We see universal design as a meta discipline of design. We support companies, the science sector and society in the development of analog and digital products, services and concepts.
In simple terms, in this workshop students and the target group will create “Google Street View for the visual impaired” for relevant locations (train station, main squares, etc.).
People with severe visual impairment predominantly experience rooms via their sense of hearing to an extent that can virtually not be reproduced by people with normal vision. A good example is the use of echolocation (tongue clicks) for orientation.
The participants of a master class conducted as part of the Human Cities project in Munich assessed how recordings of sounds in rooms provided to visually impaired people online and offline can help them experience these rooms in advance, in particular to facilitate orientation.
