Christoph Böninger studied Industrial Design in Munich and Los Angeles. In 1982, he designed the world's first laptop, which is on display today in the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. After completing his studies, he set up a design department for Siemens in New York and spent 20 years as an international design manager and managing director for Siemens. In 2010 he founded the furniture manufacturer AUERBERG in the Oberland. He is chairman of the iF Design Foundation and curator of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Applied Sciences in Halle.
